The initial application phase for SG 2009 Workshop is complete... but you still have a chance to apply!

We have already received an exciting and diverse array of applicants to the SmartGeometry 2009 Workshop.  While the first phase of applications has finished, there is still time to apply!  If you would like to submit an application, please your email your PDF proposal to website at smartgeometry dot org, following the guidelines as listed in the original application directions below...

**********

Applications to the SmartGeometry 2009 Workshop are individual applications. Each applicant must submit an idea or research field he/she will explore at the workshop. The more interesting and compelling the ideas, the better chance you have of getting accepted.

The normal fee for the workshop is $2,000. This fee includes tutoring, lunch, refreshments, and evening finger buffet for the duration of the Workshop (27th March – 30th March). You will also receive free attendance (plus lunch and refreshments) to the Alumni and Master Class Day on 31st March, free attendance (plus lunch and refreshments) to the SmartGeometry Conference on 1st April, and free attendance, drinks, fingerfood, and entertainment at the Reception on the evening of the same day. Travel, Hotel accommodations, and any other additions to the above are not included in the workshop fee.

All attendees must have GenerativeComponents installed on their laptops and must have acquired proficiency with the software, either through practical use certified by an SG tutor, through self-learning and a brief on-line test, an Academic workshop – places and locations of workshops will be announced shortly – or as an attendee at the Pre-Workshop Bentley managed training. Pre-Workshop training at SG2009 will cost $150 for workshop attendees. The GenerativeComponents Discovery Subscription will be provided to workshop participants for a full year.

A small number of selected workshop attendees will be given the opportunity to take part in a Master Class during the 31st March, with a co-presenting role at the main conference on the 1st April.

In the past the event has been largely oversubscribed, thus a good quality application is necessary. All applications must include a PDF attachment (no more than 2mb) showing your intended workshop proposal. Proposals should be formatted to A4/letter size and be no more than 2 pages in length. Please include all relevant proposal information, including precedent work, in the actual PDF; linked web pages in the application will not be viewed. PDFs should also contain your full name, affiliation, email address, and relevant past experience (3D modeling, projects, scripting, etc.).

Name the PDF file in the following format:
FirstName-LastName-ShortAffiliation.pdf
examples:
John-Smith-SOM.pdf
Some-Body-TUDelft.pdf
Andrew-Killian-MIT.pdf

The workshop is not a consultancy; tutors will work with the attendees, but the key is that attendees do the work themselves with support from the vast array of tutors and other attendees. All Intellectual Property rights remain with the attendee.

This event is by far the most important for anybody interested in parametric and computational design as an emerging design methodology. We encourage you to apply and join the group!

Workshop applicants will be notified by email on 30 January 2009 whether their application has been successful or not. Successful applicants will receive information on where to register, including how to pay the attendance fee for the workshops and pre-training.
