Getting to SG 2010 in Barcelona

The road to Barcelona has been very long. SG has had telephone conference every week since September to organise this event and we are hugely relieved we are beginning to see the end of the road.

We have finally sorted all the applications and the acceptances are going out as we speak.

The event has all the hallmarks of another SG new approach. It is the first time we are getting the tutors to set the agenda in the clusters (as opposed to helping attendees with their own projects). This time we do hope very much that the attendees not only get to know each other online, but actively collaborate on-line prior to the event.

So please join in!

a thought on approaches to criticism

It would certainly be difficult to comment negatively on things without upsetting the authors.  And it's highly likely we would all have to work together at some point in the future so it wouldn't be worth sticking your neck out and upsetting a potential future client / team member.  But criticism is the best way for people to learn from others and improve.

How about encouraging brave members to set up a "project page" within SG for each project they complete and allowing other members to comment / review the work (anonymously if they want) along the lines of a blog.  Maybe voting buttons could be added to rate the projects, similar to Amazon's facility to rate & review books or products.  A moderator could see nothing libellous was said.  And by posting comments back themselves, the athors would have a right of reply.

Do we think people would be brave enough to put their stuff up for all to see and comment on?  If the Project Pages were available on the www (with only SG members able to comment) they might be willing to do so for the publicity.  And it would eventually form a good resource archive of SG-type projects.
